All of us know that soyabean milk provides an excellent source of protein to our body but not many of us know about the technicalities involved eg. on when to consume and when not to consume soyabean milk drinks.

The soyabean milk provide lots of nutrients to the body, and the body is able to absorb the proteins under these weather conditions. That split second moment could have set your path in a separate direction. As logic dictates that we do not cry over spilled milk that can't be retrieved, we will still persist in thinking about what would have happened had we done just one thing differently.

A person's life is dramatically changed and they learn to become a better human being from their (bad) experience. Very often life is a matter of chance and that we have somewhat little control over our destinies.

'Agent Smart' dies

Don Adams, the wry-voiced comedian who starred as the fumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart in the 1960s TV spoof of James Bond movies, "Get Smart," has died. He was 82.

Adams died of a lung infection late Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his friend and former agent Bruce Tufeld said Monday, adding that the actor broke his hip a year ago and had been in ill health since.

As the inept Agent 86 of the super-secret federal agency C.O.N.T.R.O.L., Adams captured TV viewers with his antics in combatting the evil agents of K.A.O.S.

When his explanations failed to convince the villains or his boss, he tried another tack: "Would you believe ... ?"

It became a national catchphrase.

Smart was also prone to spilling things on the desk or person of his boss — the Chief (Edward Platt). Smart's apologetic "Sorry about that, chief" also entered the American lexicon.

The spy gadgets, which aped those of the Bond movies, were a popular feature, especially the pre-cellphone telephone in a shoe.

Smart's beautiful partner, Agent 99, played by Barbara Feldon, was as brainy as he was dense, and a plot romance led to marriage and the birth of twins later in the series.

"He had this prodigious energy, so as an actor working with him it was like being plugged into an electric current," Feldon said from New York. "He would start and a scene would just take off and you were there for the ride. It was great fun acting with him."

Adams was very intelligent, she said, a quality that suited the satiric show that had comedy geniuses Mel Brooks and Buck Henry behind it.

"He wrote poetry, he had an interest in history ... He had that other side to him that does not come through Maxwell Smart," she said. "Don in person was anything but bumbling."

Adams had an "amazing memory" that allowed him to take an unusual approach to filming, Feldon said.

Instead of learning his lines ahead of time he would have a script assistant read his part to him just once or twice. He invariably got it right but that didn't stop people from placing bets on it, she recounted.

Adams, who had been under contract to NBC, was lukewarm about doing a spy spoof. When he learned that Brooks and Henry had written the pilot script, he accepted immediately. "Get Smart" debuted on NBC in September 1965 and scored No. 12 among the season's most-watched series and No. 22 in its second season.

"Get Smart" twice won the Emmy for best comedy series with three Emmys for Adams as comedy actor.

CBS picked up the show but the ratings fell off as the jokes seemed repetitive, and it was canceled after four seasons. The show lived on in syndication and a cartoon series. In 1995 the Fox network revived the series with Smart as chief and 99 as a congresswoman. It lasted seven episodes.

Adams never had another showcase to display his comic talent.

"It was a special show that became a cult classic of sorts, and I made a lot of money for it," he remarked of "Get Smart" in a 1995 interview. "But it also hindered me career-wise because I was typed. The character was so strong, particularly because of that distinctive voice, that nobody could picture me in any other type of role."

He was born Donald James Yarmy in New York City on April 13, 1923, Tufeld said, although some sources say 1926 or '27. The actor's father was a Hungarian Jew who ran a few small restaurants in the Bronx.

In a 1959 interview Adams said he never cared about being funny as a kid: "Sometimes I wonder how I got into comedy at all. I did movie star impressions as a kid in high school. Somehow they just got out of hand."

In 1941, he dropped out of school to join the Marines. In Guadalcanal he survived the deadly blackwater fever and was returned to the States to become a drill instructor, acquiring the clipped delivery that served him well as a comedian.

After the war he worked in New York as a commercial artist by day, doing standup comedy in clubs at night, taking the surname of his first wife, Adelaide Adams. His following grew, and soon he was appearing on the Ed Sullivan and late-night TV shows. Bill Dana, who had helped him develop comedy routines, cast him as his sidekick on Dana's show. That led to the NBC contract and "Get Smart."

Adams also served as the voice for the popular cartoon series, "Inspector Gadget" as well as the voice of Tennessee Tuxedo. In 1980, he appeared as Maxwell Smart in a feature film, "The Nude Bomb," about a madman whose bomb destroyed people's clothing. AP

..When I walked in, the Nano’s were located directly to my right, where 2 iBooks and a few printers used to be on display. I had the pleasure of speaking with Amanda, an Apple Store employee who was working the Nano table. There were several Nano’s on display. The one nearest me was a white model that looked like someone had taken a steel wool pad to the screen. You could barely see the LCD underneath through all of the scratches. When Amanda was finished speaking to a customer I started asking her questions. It went a little something like this :

Matt: This iPod looks really scratched. How did this happen?
Amanda: Well we have had thousands of people handling them.
Matt: This happened from people just touching it? They weren’t rubbing them on something or putting it in their pocket? Is it really this easy to scratch?
Amanda: Yes it can scratch easily but I don’t think that really matters.
Matt: Well most people buy an iPod for the look. You don’t think they are concerned with an iPod that scratches this easily?
Amanda: No, I mean I have an iPod for the music not how it looks, but if someone is concerned about scratching we do sell cases for them.
Matt: I have seen some sites on the internet where people complain of scratching and cracked LCD screens. Has your store had any returns for this problem?
Amanda: No it is still a new product. I don’t think we have had any returns yet.
Matt: So you sell a product that scratches easily, so that you can sell a case. That is a pretty good marketing strategy
Amanda: Well, that’s how they get you.
Matt: Interesting. May I have your card?
Amanda: Sure
Matt: By the way, I run a website that is collecting information from Nano owners about all of the problems they are having. I am going to post the information you have given to me on my website. I really hope you don’t lose your job. Have a good day.

By the way Amanda had a full sized iPod attached to her belt. The table cleared up quite a bit after I mentioned that I had a website collecting complaints. Apple really seems to be putting their best foot forward with this product.

To My Darling Perry...I miss you so much. How could you just leave me like that. I've been crying ever since e night before and it isnt helping matters. I would give anything just to have you wake up again. Your death is to sudden, i cannot take it. i dunno how am i going to live on without you in my life. Without you, its like getting me torn into half. I never once regreted having you as my boyfriend. I loved and enjoyed every single moment spent with you. After you enlisted, i cherished all the weekends we spent together. Weekends were what i looked forward to every day. After i began working, i had to neglect you on saturdays cos of work commitment. I so regret that. we had so much more things to accomplish together.. we still had a trip to Thailand and Australia.. You still had to celebrate my 21st birthday with me. You were supposed to shop for my gift this weekend. You were in camp counting down e days you could see me again. I know u missed me more than anything else in camp. You said you would propose to me if u had to go Australia for 10 months. We were supposed to be happily married few years down the road. You had a bright future ahead of you. You were awaiting your ORD so eagerly... I dont know how i'm gonna pass the rest of the days.. i really dont know... what am i gonna do..I keep thinking of all the moments we spent together.. How you use to irritate me with your silly antics and vice versa.. How our arms were always interlocked while watching a movie. How you would put food on my plate for me. Serviceman Collapses and Passes away

A radar specialist from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, 3SG Perry Koh Han Min, collapsed suddenly while playing street soccer during his recreational time in Chong Pang Camp at about 9.10pm on 13 September 2005. The 23-year old full-time National Serviceman was given immediate medical attention and was evacuated to the Nee Soon Medical Centre, where he was further referred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 11.07pm.

MINDEF and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late 3SG Koh, and will be assisting the family in their time of grief. MINDEF is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Apple Expo takes the stage in Paris this week

September 20, 2005 - The largest European Apple conference kicks off this week in Paris as Apple Expo gets underway.

In recent years Apple has taken to using the expo's keynote as platform for launching new products. Earlier this month, however, Apple surprised watchers when it quietly backed out of the keynote without providing a reason. Insiders have speculated that hardware Apple had hoped to have ready in time for Paris was unfinished, although recent information from Think Secret sources suggests that a revision to the Power Mac G5 will be rolled out soon.

Other sites have speculated that an overdue update to Apple's PowerBook line might arrive at Apple Expo, but Think Secret has been unable to corroborate such reports.

Should Apple update its Power Mac G5 systems, it would not be unreasonable to expect price cuts to its displays to arrive in tandem, as they did back in April. HP recently slashed the price of its f2304 23-inch display by $500 to $999 ($899 after rebate). Apple's 23-inch Cinema Display HD, which uses the same flat-panel as the f2304, continues to retail for $1,499.

Another possibility is that Apple will unveil Backup 3 or other .Mac upgrades, as an extended maintenance period is currently taking place coincidentally just prior to Apple Expo.

Regardless, some sort of new product from Apple is expected to be unveiled at Apple Expo, as black drapes reportedly cover portions of Apple's booth hours ahead of the Expo's opening. Apple will also be hosting a Q&A session shortly after Apple Expo kicks off...

ETFs are index-tracking mutual funds that trade on exchanges just like stocks. In the case of STI ETF, buying one lot of it gives investors exposure to all 50 component stocks in the STI with similar weightage. So the STI ETF actually tracks the performance of the index. In addition, it is also entitled to all the dividends paid out by the companies in STI.

Investors here, however have yet to warm up to the product. Many westen investors - including professional money managers and even hedge fund managers - have found, ETFs offer several advantages. Among other things, they claim greater transparency compared with actively managed unit trusts, lower costs and decent returns without the exposure to the risks of individual stocks. Many are using the ETFs, not only as trading vehicles, but also to manage money.

So why is the STI ETF not popular among investors? For one, perhaps not enough has been done in terms of education. Meanwhile, financial planners have little incentive to advise their clients to buy ETFs because they do not provide the commissions that come with selling traditional mutual funds.

Investors, however, might want to consider ETFs as a core part of their portfolio. It is a sensible way to get generic exposure at a low cost. They may not give the thrill of bagging a stock which returns 500 or 600 per cent. But neither will they be hurt by the sort of debacles that have hit shareholders of companies like China Aviation Oil and Accord Customer Care Solutions.

"Well begun is half done," goes the adage. Here are my top five tips to help get your new home business off to a great start.

1. Do your research, but trust your hunches.
It's always wise to find out about the new business you want to get into. But in the end, your hunch about it - your intuition - will tell you either, "I can do this," or "it's not for me."

Trust that decision no matter what anybody else tells you.

2. Write a business plan.
You need to clarify your ideas and plan your actions. You don't have to be elaborate (unless you want to use it to raise money). The business plan is really just a roadmap to help you to plan your home-business journey and to check from time to time to make sure you stay on course. Your business plan should briefly outline:

- What your goals are
- What products and service's you'll offer
- The benefits of those products or services
- Who your target market is
- How you'll reach them
- What your income goals are

3. Pick out a workspace.
Most people work best if they have one main area to work in. It doesn't matter how big or small it is, or even if it is a separate room (a corner of another room could be all you need). Just make sure the space is set aside for that purpose only. Don't watch TV there. Don't eat there. Don't do family activities there. And it won't hurt if you keep it organized and neat.

4. Decide when and how much to work.
Part of the reason for working for yourself is to gain more control over how you spend your time. But make no mistake, you will have to work to succeed. And while you are working, make sure your family and friends treat that time with the same respect they would show if you worked regular hours in a regular office.

5. Organize your finances.
Running your own business can mean feast-or-famine income. So always set some of your income aside as a cushion against slower times, and keep close watch on your spending. Those two rules are true, even if you happen to earn a lot of money. Just ask any successful and wealthy person.

I, do not have an answer, nothing relevant to give.

Days have passed. So, many events, how am I going to put them in mere words. Words, itself, themselves, can't describe the sequences of events that have happened. Nor can, they describe this feelings and feel.

You run, and run...The faster you speed off...The faster you wear off. No matter how far we run, or no matter how fast we do. There would be one day, we have to stop. And, when that day comes, you realise that.

I seemed to be losing myself.

Atomic Bombing in Japan: 60th Anniversary

This week marks the 60th anniversary of the Atomic Bombing in Japan. On 6 August 1945, the atomic bomb drop "Little Boy" was delivered by B29 bomber the Enola Gay on Hiroshima.

Thousands of other survivors known as the hibakusha (被爆者) - "bomb affected people", are given medical checkups by the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in the first few months of the bomb drop.

The second bomb drop "Fat Man" was on Nagasaki on 9 August 1945, one of the largest sea-ports in Southern Japan.

Been reading about the recent defamation suit against SPH Holdings on the gold-plated tap in Mr Durai's office suite. As of today, the lawsuit has been withdrawn as the charges are valid.

Another shocking fact surfaced during the court proceedings: NKF reserves can last for the next 30 to 40 years, even without new donations coming in. Compared to the original claim that their reserves can last only 3 years...TRULY SHOCKING INDEED.

Gold-colored bacteria more dangerous - study

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Gold-colored bacteria that cause more disease than colorless strains do so because they carry antioxidants to protect themselves against immune system attack, U.S. researchers reported on Monday.
Their findings, published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, suggest a potential new way to treat some serious infections, the researchers said.

Gold-colored strains of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which get their color from antioxidant compounds called carotenoids, tend to cause more disease than colorless strains.

Carotenoids also give carrots their color and include the vitamin A precursor beta-carotene.

Victor Nizet of the University of California San Diego and colleagues found that the carotenoids help defend Staph aureus bacteria from the toxic molecules made by immune system cells called neutrophils.

When they removed the carotenoids from the bacteria, they were easier to kill.

Drugs that interfere with the bacteria's ability to make carotenoids might help in fighting antibiotic-resistant staph infections, which are on the rise globally, Nizet said.

Trivia - Why is root beer called beer?

Well, apparently it originated as an alcoholic beverage.

The soft drink root beer today just retains the flavour of the original, without the alcoholic content.

Root beer is a beverage made from a combination of vanilla, cherry tree bark, licorice root, sarsaparilla root, sassafras root bark, nutmeg, anise, and molasses among other things.

Root beer was a traditional beverage and herbal medicine. The beverage was often alcoholic, usually around 2%. As a medicine it was used for cough and mouth sores. Commercially prepared root beer was developed by Charles Elmer Hires on May 16, 1866. He presented root tea powder at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial exhibition. In 1893 he began selling bottled carbonated root beer.

Home-made root beer is made using flavouring (either a concentrate, or actual roots and spices) to which is added sugar, water, and yeast. It is allowed to ferment under pressure to retain the carbonation and limit the alcohol produced by the yeast to low levels.

Assuming it is mechanically sound and incident-free, the best way is to determine its annual depreciation rate. Do this by subtracting the COE and PARF rebate values from the price of the vehicle.

PARF is preferential additional registration fee, a paper refund that your are entitled to if you deregister your vehicle before its 10th year. The minimum PARF rebate is printed on the car's logcard.

Likewise, you are entitled to a COE rebate, pro-rated on the unused portion of its 10 year lifespan. If the car was registered using an Open Category COE, its rebate value would be that of the actual category the vehicle belongs to, if it is lower.

After the simple arithmetic, you will arrive at a sum. Divide that by the number of years you intend to keep the vehicle and you will get the annual depreciation. Compare the figure to that of an equivalent new car. The used car's depreciation should be at least 10 per cent lower.

If you are not mathematically inclined, you can check a car's PARF rebate entitlement by logging on to this website.

You should also weigh other things like warranty, vehicle condition and rarity of the model. Lastly, make sure there are no hidden costs, which some dealers tend to spring on you once you have signed on the dotted line.
